New York Giants Practice Dome

After several seasons of driving to Rutgers University for practice during inclement weather, the NY Giants decided in 1994 to add a practice facility at Giants Stadium in the Meadowlands. Our manufacturing company worked closely with Sanzari Construction to provide a complete, turnkey package. Included was the following: air structure design, site and foundation preparation, astroturf installation, peripheral equipment, air structure fabrication, erection and Hanglites installation.

NY Giants Practice Dome Fabrication and Installation

60,000 square feet of tedlar-coated vinyl in two sections was used to cover the 1 1/2 acre practice area. The two fabric bundles weighed 10,000 lbs each. Once the synthetic turf and peripheral equipment were installed, the dome erection time from fabric rollout to full inflation was three days. Inflation time was less than two hours.

While the synthetic turf surface was being installed, the team installed personnel airlocks, vehicular airlocks, the dome's climatic control and inflation equipment. The supplied HVAC system supplies the necessary primary and auxiliary pressure to inflate the dome as well as cooling and heating for complete climatic control.

NY Jets Practice Dome

Located at Hofstra University on Long Island, the New York Jets practice dome is a recent addition to the list of NFL team practice facilities. When not used by the Jets for practice or pre-season conditioning, the dome is used by Hofstra's football team and women's lacrosse and field hockey teams.
